How it started
For years, pregnant women from around the world have looked for the excellent medical services available in the United States. Until recently, lack of knowledge and information tremendously hindered access to these services. Then came “Have my Baby in Miami”. With the integration of obstetric and pediatric medical services, pregnant women now have access to the American medical system in a simple, transparent, and personalized way, with attention to cultural details of each patient.
What The Moms of Miami Say about Us
I had already given birth in Brazil … My doctor from Brazil is wonderful and I have a relationship of friendship with him. I thought I would miss it, but Dr. Cadenas’s team welcomed me with such care … Not to mention Dr. Wladmir who was always very considerate! (I did not believe him when he came to my house late at night to look at my son … How much responsibility !!! – this I would not have in Brazil for sure). As for the hospital part I can say I was delighted. The delivery was perfect, everything went very well! Then in the room the nurses were always very attentive and kind to me and my son. I felt very safe in the hospital and there was always someone there to ask me if I needed anything. Honestly at first I thought I would make a sacrifice … But today I can say that I did not sacrifice any !!! I was blessed with this opportunity! I really want to have a third child and of course I’ll be there with you again. Thank you from the heart to the team Being Mom in Miami!
… I am extremely pleased with the work performed by the team of Ser Mama in Miami, a group of highly qualified professionals with hospitals of high quality. I confess that they exceeded all my expectations. Would do it all again, without changing anything …
I am writing briefly to express my satisfaction with the results of my son’s birth at Mercy Hospital. The price at the hospital was spectacular. The group of gynecologists and our amazing pediatrician Dr. Wladimir Lorentz were very attentive and always professional, including postpartum care. Always available 24 hours a day to clarify any concerns and very aware of the progress of the work. The group of nurses at Mercy is incomparable. Overall, we are very pleased with the decision to have our baby in Miami by this excellent group of professionals. It was worth the sacrifice to be away from our country and our family at this important time.
… we would spend a season abroad working and researching on the internet about Miami we find information about the service provided by the Mother Being in Miami and that, in the coming days, the pediatric doctors Dr.Lorentz and obstetrician Dr.Cardenas would be in São Paulo to present more details of obstetrics and pediatrics care. We went to this meeting and we fell in love beforehand with their service and work. And with the trip already marked, in the midst of work and shopping for layette, we await the arrival of our baby … Our daughter was born in Cesarean delivery … beautiful and very healthy through the hands of Dr. Joseph Triana who was Very attentive and professional, including in postpartum consultations. Dr. Lorentz was an excellent pediatrician, taking care of our daughter from birth until our return to Brazil, with almost two months, and even later on the internet. I have so much to thank the whole Team of Being Mom in Miami for making it unique and special the moment of our arrival. Thank you.
… I would like to register here all my satisfaction and happiness to have found the pediatric team of Being Mom in Miami. Happiness yes, as I feel easy to know that any small problem or doubt I can contact Dr. Wladimir and he will reply me as soon as possible. Super attentive, always! And most importantly, the security I feel in it is enormous, finding a doctor who trusts 100% is paramount. I already live in Miami, and I was very worried about who her pediatrician would be, because here the doctors do not usually give the phone and they are not always available, but now I feel relieved and safe. Dr. Mirna’s visit as soon as we returned home made all the difference to me. A lengthy consultation, where I was able to clarify all my doubts, and especially doubts about breastfeeding, which is always very difficult at first, especially for first-time mothers like me. After she explained everything to me, and gave me all the tips, it was only to follow and I had no problems to breastfeed. Thank you all of the team of Being Mama in Miami for being with me and my daughter and giving me security in this moment so unique and special.

Consideration of having a child abroad brings out many uncertainties, especially regarding legal issues. Questions arise regarding the following topics:
1. The legality of having a child in the United States not being the parents residing in the country,
2. the nationality of the child being born abroad, and
3. respecting her responsibilities once an adult as a citizen of the country where she was born.
Being Mom in Miami is a company that only provides medical services. However, aware of all these uncertainties commonly encountered among our patients, we have the support of a group of immigration lawyers who are able to answer legal questions.
The documentation process after the baby’s birth is relatively simple and can be directly done by the parents themselves. We provide all the necessary information so that they can make the documents. Having been given entry promptly, all documents can usually be ready within 4 weeks. The cost of the documentation process is approximately $ 250 dollars.
The entry of the baby in Brazil requires the Brazilian passport. The American passport can be postponed to be made in Brazil, but the process of its acquisition in the United States is simple and because of this we recommend that it be done here.
The provision of international health insurance for the whole family with additional birth coverage and perinatal complications is highly recommended. Such additional coverage is only possible when insurance is purchased before the start of pregnancy. If your international insurance does not include this coverage, we suggest your purchase.
For pregnant women without childbirth coverage or perinatal complications, the provision of international health insurance for complications not related to childbirth is suggested at a minimum. Such coverage can be acquired through international health insurance or travel insurance. It is also recommended to purchase international health insurance for the infant after birth.
To facilitate the contracting of insurance, we count with the collaboration of an insurance agent, Marcelo Passos (Empire Financial Specialists) Contact: email@example.com; Telephones: + 1-305-654-1400; +1 (305) 915-7501.
We generally recommend that pregnant women only consider having their children abroad when gestation is not at risk. Such decision must be shared with the obstetrician taking care of the pregnant woman. Although the incidence of perinatal complications is very low, we do not recommend that pregnant women come to the United States who are not financially able, directly or through insurance coverage, to assume costs related to complications of childbirth.
Also, we definitely do not recommend considering public insurance use by foreign pregnant women, which is unethical and ill-seen from the point of view of the American community. The use of public insurance in the United States is not an automatic right of the American citizen, but is reserved for citizens who qualify through proven low family income. Families using Ser Mama’s medical services in Miami who subsequently make use of public insurance or leave outstanding accounts in the United States will be precluded from future participation in the program.
One of the main parts of preparing for coming to Miami is the determination of where to stay. Some families fortunately already have their own residence or relatives, thus eliminating this concern.
Most, however, find by various means on their own a place to reside during the process. Although there are several ways to get to a property of choice, we warn that some means may not be reliable. Therefore we have as a recommendation Maite Narciso +1 (305) 790-5659, real estate broker of our confidence.
We recommend that your stay location is close to the hospital of choice. However, some come to reside relatively distant from our hospitals. In such a case, it is recommended that there be a place of residence near the hospital from the 36 weeks of gestation to avoid that the baby is born in another hospital where we do not provide care.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have the option of choosing a normal birth or cesarean section?
Our obstetricians respect the choice of the pregnant woman. The decision between a normal birth or cesarean section is in the mother’s hand, as long as there is no medical indication for a cesarean section. At the end, this decision is the result of a dynamic process of open communication between the obstetrician and the pregnant woman throughout the gestation process.
With how many weeks of gestation can I travel?
Our recommendation is that in general the pregnant woman travels up to 32 weeks of gestation. This is so there is time for part of the prenatal care to be done by our obstetricians and give them a chance to familiarize themselves with the clinical history before giving birth. In fact, the decision of how far a trip can be made should come from the expectant mother in consultation with her / his obstetrician.
Is it possible to perform normal labor after a cesarean section?
According to the protocol followed by our obstetricians, in order to minimize risks to the mother and the baby, we do not perform normal delivery after cesarean section except in specific circumstances.
How soon after delivery can I travel?
It is suggested that the return trip be made only after administration of the first series of vaccines. This, by protocol, can be started only after the baby is 6 weeks old. After vaccination, ideally one should wait 10 additional days for sufficient time for the vaccines to take effect.
What examinations were performed at the hospital after the baby’s birth?
During the first few days after the birth of your baby, the following studies and treatments are done:
1. The baby receives his first Hepatitis B vaccine within the first two days of life.
2. At birth, you receive an injectable dose of vitamin K.
3. After 24 hours of life the “test to foot.”
4. The hearing test should be done in the first month of life, but it is usually done in the first days of life before leaving the hospital.
All of the above is included in the price of our services.
Which of my prenatal studies should I bring with me?
In Brazil more prenatal studies are usually done than recommended in the United States *. Therefore, it is rare that studies are lacking in most cases of pregnant women coming from Brazil. However, as a general rule, for pregnant women arriving after 28 weeks of gestation, it is ideal that they also have their third trimester studies (syphilis, HIV, hepatitis B, rubella) already concluded. Studies of Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and Streptococcus are done with us at 35 weeks of gestation.
How and when should I pay for medical services?
The amount is paid in parts. The value of obstetric (US $ 3900) and pediatric (US $ 1590) service is made at the time we start medical care with us. This amount can be paid in kind or with a credit card (with 2.5% increase). The value of the hospital service is paid directly to the hospital and to the associated service providers (pathology, anesthesia, neonatology, and surgical care). This payment is made once a decision has been made about the hospital to be used, usually up to 36 weeks’ gestation. The type of payment accepted varies from hospital to hospital.
Can delivery be followed?
Natural childbirth can be accompanied by up to 3 people. Cesarean delivery with local anesthesia may be accompanied by one person.
Can I meet the doctors in person?
Yes, with great pleasure we can receive our patients to know us and clarify any doubts. For parents who do not have the opportunity to visit us directly in Miami, we travel to different parts of Brazil every three months to give these families the opportunity to meet our pediatricians and obstetricians.

Step by Step
1. Preparing for The Trip
During the waiting period between the initial contact and the coming, the future country must make its preparatory. Usually we recommend that you pay attention to the following items:
1. Everyone in the family who intends to come to the United States must purchase travel insurance with medical coverage. Although such coverage does not extend to childbirth itself or to complications associated with childbirth, coverage for other medical problems that may occur is extremely important.
2. Copies of all studies and laboratories performed during prenatal care should be made to the physician in the United States.
3. Some countries will variably meet with our physicians to meet them in person or via Skype before starting medical care with us. Requests for such meetings should be scheduled during that time.
4. Often we are asked if it is necessary to make payment before coming. Payments for our services are only made when starting medical care with us.
Once your arrival has been decided and all preparations have been made, you should be asked to schedule your first appointment by email.
Initially two appointments are scheduled: the first in the obstetrical office so that continuation of the prenatal follow-up is possible.
The second in the pediatric office for evaluation of family medical history, gestational history, and update of vaccines of the pregnant and family.
3. Waiting For the Baby
During the waiting for the birth of the baby, in addition to the continuity of the prenatal care, the parents have time available to decide which hospital they want to use. Therefore, tours should be scheduled at the hospitals that interest them.
Once decided, it should register and prepay all hospital services such as hospitalization, anesthesia, neonatology, pathology, and surgical instrumentation.
The decision and payment must be completed no later than 35 weeks of gestation. It is imperative to save all payment receipts.
4. The Birth
For pregnant women with scheduled cesarean section, once the date of birth is scheduled, we ask that this information and any future changes be communicated to the pediatric office as soon as possible.
For pregnant women due to be natural, we ask that they communicate directly to the pediatrician when the pregnant woman is already hospitalized so that she is aware of the birth to happen.
5. Preparing for The Return
Initially, a pediatric visit is done at home 2-3 days after leaving the hospital. Such consultation is done at home to maximize the comfort of the mother during the first days of recovery.
Soon after the baby’s birth, the documentation process should begin. At the hospital itself and online entry to the American birth certificate with the assistance of its employees.
This done, the father should go to Vital Records to obtain the printed certificate. The Certificate of American Birth is indispensable to be able to enter the request of both passports. At least two copies of the certificate must be requested, since one of them is retained by the American passport agency, and is later returned by mail other than the passport.
The process of applying for passports is simple.
On the first day after leaving the hospital, parents can already travel with the baby to the American passport agency. The photos for the passport can be made at the agency itself, following the required standards.
The Brazilian passport is necessary for the return of the baby with the parents to Brazil.
They should go to the Brazilian Consulate in Miami where the Birth Certificate is made in the act and soon after is given the entrance to the passport.
It is also extremely important that, after the baby is born, a zero balance statement is obtained from each medical service provider. This is an extract proving that all costs related to medical care have been removed.
6. After the Return
Our “Being Mom in Miami” team will remain at your disposal even after you have returned to Brazil. We will be waiting for you and the little brothers and sisters who are still to come.
Our willingness to take care of moms and little children does not end when our patients leave.
Most visit Miami regularly, and many eventually move here. Therefore, whenever necessary, we will be here to serve you.
It is also very important to maintain communication between us and your doctors in Brazil.
Therefore, we ask that your obstetricians and pediatricians contact our contact information if direct communication between us is required. This also brings the added benefit that these professionals are aware of our international service and pass on our information to their own patients while they are passing through Miami.
